There something about solo travel (perhaps also with a motorcycle) which makes people happy to chat to you along the way. Today in Tallinn had a couple of examples.
Firstly I had just arrived and had parked up to drink some water. A family walked past with two small boys. The little boy was attracted to the bike and so I asked if he'd like to sit on it and rev it. It turns out the family were from Russia, and so we had 10 minutes chatting about St Petersburg where they now lived, and also Vladivostok where the father was from while videos were taken of the boys sitting on the bike.
After this I rode a little out of town to get some supplies and money at a local supermarket. The guy parked next to me mentioned the bike and asked how far I had come. He then informed me that just behind the supermarket is one of the first racetracks in Estonia (which is now part of the road network) and I could have a ride around the loop. He also told me its also the place a famous road racer "Joey Dunlop" had died and there was a memorial to the Manxman part of the way around. So we shook hands, he wished me well and I went off for a ride.
The Joey Dunlop memorial tucked behind the supermarket.
