Smooth easy roads

Updated: Sep 10, 2020

After the beating getting to Ishim, the roads to Omsk and Novosibirsk have been smooth, with light traffic. A welcome change.

Omsk was a beautiful city, with a very European vibe. I had a relaxing evening walk around, with people promenading around the river banks - very chilled. Russians are big into selfies, and even have more professional photographers taking shots of themselves posing and enjoying their surroundings. It tends to be girls or young couples, with the younger men mainly into skateboarding or zooming around on electric scooters.

Unfortunately at the back of my mind is the fact that I have 30 days and I have to get to Vladivostok. This means I can rarely spend long in a city, except on rest days and those days are taken up with doing nothing as I am generally exhausted Nizhny Novogorod, Kazan and Omsk were places that I could have easily spent 2 or 3 days in each.

Currently at Novosibirsk (5000 miles done) and will head over towards Krasnoyarsk tomorrow to finally get to Irkutsk by the weekend (and the largest freshwater lake in the world!)
